Jodi Hall, PhD, Professor, Full-Spectrum Doula

Biography:

Dr. Jodi Hall is a full-time professor in Doula Studies at Fanshawe College and an adjunct professor at Western University. Her research interests include reproductive justice, trauma, social exclusion, sex work, ethics and criminality. Dr. Hall’s unique combination of practical experience gained in the gender based violence community as a frontline worker and her academic research background in trauma has spurred a high demand for her workshops (www.jodihall.ca ) aimed at informing a diverse array of professionals around the complex issue of trauma, and how to recognize and respond accordingly. Through her professional work, Dr. Hall has contributed to numerous research studies and publications on health inequities amongst women in conflict with the law, health promotion, trauma and the transition to parenting, and a housing first approach for women. Currently, Dr. Hall is conducting a community based research study funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) with members of London sex workers’ community, SafeSpace.
